Delta Plus: A Naturally Derived Neutral Detergent for Cleanroom Residue Removal

Delta Plus: A Naturally Derived Neutral Detergent for Cleanroom Residue Removal NachrichtenBlogReinraum20.07.2026

Effective cleanroom cleaning and disinfection is not just about applying disinfectants. It also depends on removing the residues and surface contamination that can compromise the disinfection stage. Micronclean’s Delta Plus, a sterile neutral detergent, has been developed to support this critical part of cleanroom contamination control.

In this context, Delta Plus is used as a cleaning agent to remove residues and soil from cleanroom surfaces. It is not intended to replace the primary disinfectant step; instead, it helps prepare surfaces so that subsequent disinfectant applications can make effective contact.

Why residue removal matters in cleanroom environments

EU GMP Annex 1 places clear emphasis on robust cleaning and disinfection practices within cleanrooms. For disinfection to be effective, visible and non-visible contamination should first be removed from surfaces, including residues left behind by previous disinfectant applications. If these residues are not managed effectively, they may build up over time and interfere with cleaning performance, surface condition including slipperiness of floors and  disinfectant performance.

Delta Plus has been formulated to help address this requirement by providing a neutral detergent step that supports routine cleanroom cleaning, residue management, and preparation of surfaces ahead of disinfection.

Performance validated through laboratory testing

To support customer validation and product acceptance, Micronclean carried out a comprehensive test programme to assess Delta Plus in cleanroom-relevant conditions. The programme evaluated residue removal alongside wider performance considerations relevant to routine cleanroom use.

Laboratory testing demonstrated 96% removal of disinfectant residue, with Delta Plus significantly outperforming a leading competitor under the test conditions used. Full results are documented in the Delta Plus Validation Guide, which is available from Micronclean on request.

A naturally derived formulation

Delta Plus is formulated exclusively with naturally derived components and contains no petrochemical-derived ingredients. Replacing Micronclean’s existing Delta neutral detergent, the new formulation has been developed to offer an enhanced environmental profile while supporting routine cleanroom residue removal.

Compatibility with established cleanroom disinfection programmes

Chemical compatibility is an important consideration when introducing any new cleaning agent into an established cleanroom regime. Compatibility testing confirms that Delta Plus is suitable for use alongside Micronclean’s cleanroom contamination control portfolio, including Alpha and Beta disinfectants, the current Delta neutral detergent, and Micronclean’s sporicide offering.

Technical perspective

Tasmin Crompton, Technical Lead at Micronclean, said: “We’re incredibly proud of the results produced during Delta Plus trials. Alongside our commitment to delivering sustainable solutions using naturally derived components, we’ve developed a product that significantly outperforms the leading competitor.”

Delta Plus gives cleanroom teams a practical way to strengthen routine cleaning, manage residue build-up, and support more effective disinfection while moving towards a formulation based on naturally derived components.
